[Expert Analysis: No Concessions on Key Issues Between the U.S. and Iran, Negotiations Remain Uncertain]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on May 26, citing CCTV, both the U.S. and Iran have recently stated that progress has been made in negotiations, but it remains uncertain whether a final agreement can be reached. Experts believe that neither side has made substantive concessions on key issues, leaving significant uncertainty about the outcome of the talks.
Li Zixin, an assistant researcher at the China Institute of International Studies, stated that there has been no clear retreat from the U.S. and Iran on some critical positions regarding the nuclear issue. The U.S. claims that Iran has agreed to abandon highly enriched uranium, but in reality, Iran had previously expressed willingness to dilute its stockpile of highly enriched uranium domestically. On the nuclear issue, particularly regarding the post-processing of nuclear materials, neither side has provided a clear solution or outlined a specific pathway to address the matter.
This issue has been deferred for future discussions, but how it will ultimately be resolved will face further contention.
