[Pentagon Accelerates Claude Replacement, Testing Multiple Models to Establish New Supplier System]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on May 22, citing a senior U.S. Department of Defense official, the Pentagon is testing various artificial intelligence models to determine which ones are preferred by the department's 25 'super users.' The U.S. military is accelerating its search for alternatives to Claude, developed by Anthropic. The senior official stated that the testing began in early March, just three days after Secretary of Defense Hegseth announced that Anthropic would be classified as a supply chain risk. Following its split with Anthropic, the Pentagon has given itself six months to gradually phase out the company's products. Earlier this month, the Pentagon announced new agreements with several other companies to use their AI tools on classified networks, aiming to develop multiple new supplier models.
