White House reports pre release review plan to AI companies
According to sources familiar with the matter, on May 21st, the White House Office of the National Cyber Director reported a proposed artificial intelligence executive order to companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and ReflectionAI on Tuesday. This command will authorize intelligence agencies and other government departments to review advanced AI models before they are publicly released. Insiders say that President Trump may sign the executive order as early as Thursday. Two other informed sources added that representatives from cloud service providers, semiconductor companies, cybersecurity companies, and banks also attended the briefing. This executive order aims to establish a voluntary framework for cutting-edge model developers, requiring companies to report to the government before the release of new AI models. According to the proposed framework, AI laboratories are required to submit models to the government for review no later than 90 days prior to their public release.
