Holy crap, are the bros falling out? Peter Thiel recently went against Elon Musk, saying that hoping for some kind of 'baby boom magic' won’t save the global collapse in birth rates!
He laid it out clearly: people aren’t having kids because society as a whole is stuck in stagnation, and everyone is insanely pessimistic about the future. Just look at the U.S. (all 50 states), Italy, South Korea, and even Iran—birth rates have all dropped below the critical 2.1 threshold. Population decline has long been a global issue.
This kind of worldwide cliff-like drop shows that low birth rates aren’t just about one country’s policies failing; it’s a deep-rooted issue that inevitably erupts in the late stages of modern civilization. Don’t count on some miracle cure to reverse this deadlock. As long as the broader environment stays stagnant, this population cliff is absolutely not going to be fixed.
