According to a report by Folha de S.Paulo on May 18, data obtained through the Freedom of Information Act reveals that the Brazilian Federal Police seized approximately $14 million in crypto assets related to criminal activities in 2025, marking a more than sixfold increase compared to 2024. These assets were linked to cases involving drug trafficking, cybercrime, environmental crimes, and money laundering. During investigations into Pix infrastructure hacking and money laundering organizations, the police confiscated Bitcoin and stablecoins. The report also noted that the $14 million represents only a small fraction of Brazil's declared crypto market transaction volume, with approximately $100 billion in crypto transactions reported to tax authorities last year.
