[Leader of the UK Reform Party Farage Responds Again to 'Donation Controversy'] On May 14, Nigel Farage, leader of the UK's far-right Reform Party, once again responded to the 'donation controversy.' He stated that before becoming a newly elected MP, he did indeed receive a £5 million (approximately $6.75 million) donation from a cryptocurrency billionaire. However, he claimed that the money was personal compensation for his efforts in campaigning for Brexit and did not require declaration. According to UK parliamentary regulations, newly elected MPs must declare donations and gifts received within the year prior to their election. Currently, the UK Parliament's Standards Authority is investigating Farage to determine whether he should have declared this donation upon his election in 2024. Farage argued that the money was an unconditional gift and therefore not subject to the relevant declaration rules. However, opposition parties have questioned the compliance of this donation, suggesting there may be risks of conflicts of interest. (CCTV News)
