The voting gap continues to narrow as the US House of Representatives once again vetoes a bill that limits Trump's war power On May 15th, the US House of Representatives narrowly rejected a Democratic led resolution aimed at preventing a war against Iran. The resolution requires the cessation of hostilities unless authorized by Congress. The voting result was 212 votes to 212, and it was declared a failure as it failed to obtain a simple majority. This is the third time this year that the House of Representatives has voted on a war power resolution against Iran, and the first vote since the 60 day war period expired on May 1st. According to relevant regulations, Trump must provide an explanation to Congress on the issue of war before the deadline. Trump claimed at the time that the ceasefire had "ended" hostile actions against Iran. The gap between previous votes is constantly narrowing. The last time it failed with 213 votes to 214, a member of parliament cast an "attendance vote". The vote in the Senate is also deadlocked. On Wednesday, the Senate blocked a war power resolution by a vote of 50 to 49, with three Republican lawmakers and all Democratic lawmakers except one voting in favor of advancing the measure.
