[A Chinese Crude Oil Super Tanker Attempts to Leave the Strait of Hormuz] Reported by Jinse Finance, on May 13, according to Bloomberg, ship tracking data indicates that a Chinese crude oil super tanker appears to be exiting the Persian Gulf. On Wednesday morning, the super tanker 'Yuan Hua Hu' was spotted passing through the waters, sailing past Iran's Larak Island on the eastern side of the strait and heading southward. According to shipping database Equasis, the vessel is owned and operated by a subsidiary of China COSCO Shipping Corporation. Since the outbreak of the U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict, this marks only the third such passage by a Chinese Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC). The draft depth of 'Yuan Hua Hu' suggests it is fully loaded with crude oil, potentially nearing its maximum capacity of 2 million barrels. Ship tracking data shows the vessel loaded cargo at Iraq's Basrah Terminal in early March.
