Masha, thank you, Bonaire 🇧🇶 A fruitful working visit focused on creating a sustainable, economically strong and liveable island for everyone. In recent years, the Netherlands has worked together with Bonaire to improve people’s livelihoods. As well as a higher minimum wage, affordable housing is also of great importance. More than 250 social housing units are currently being completed. A wonderful project where people can find a home. A much-discussed issue is Selibon Lagun. Due to unsafe storage practices, this landfill site has for some time posed serious risks to the environment and the local community. I went to see for myself how this problem can be resolved. It is important that the improvements already underway are now seen through to completion, with the health of Bonaire’s residents as the top priority. Many thanks to Governor John Soliano, Acting Representative of the State Jan Helmond, the Island Council and the Executive Council, and all the residents for the warm welcome. Today I have seen that Bonaire is an island with great potential. For example, in the areas of infrastructure and good, affordable housing, but also in relation to nature, the environment and climate issues. The Netherlands wants to help seize the opportunities that lie ahead. That is a joint task. Nos ta un Reino!(Rob Jetten)
