OpenAI lawsuit continues to be heard, Sam Altman will testify in court
Odaily Planet Daily News: In the OpenAI related lawsuit in Oakland Federal Court, California, one of the highly anticipated core witnesses, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, is expected to testify in court today. This case was initiated by Elon Musk in 2024, accusing OpenAI and its management of violating non-profit mission commitments and questioning their charitable trust responsibilities in the process of commercializing. During the trial, Bret Taylor, Chairman of OpenAI's Board of Directors, continued to testify in court, stating that the company was "almost at risk of collapse" during the management turmoil in 2023, and that the current restructured structure is clearer, but non-profit entities still retain control. At the same time, Satya Nadella stated in her testimony that Microsoft took on significant risks when investing over $13 billion in OpenAI in 2019 without anyone else willing to bet, and claimed that she had not received any formal questioning from Musk regarding investment compliance. The case continues to revolve around the legitimacy of OpenAI's transition from a non-profit organization to a commercial architecture, and Altman's appearance is seen as a key milestone in this round of trials.
