[Independent Investigator Exposes Process of a North Korean Recruiter Purchasing U.S./EU Upwork Identities]
Foresight News reports that blockchain independent investigator tanuki42 tweeted, revealing that a North Korean recruiter recently reached out and offered to pay $300 per month for a U.S. identity ($150 for an EU identity), requesting assistance in registering and maintaining an Upwork account, with an additional 15% commission after four months. The recruiter demanded remote control of the other party's computer via AnyDesk to bypass Upwork's IP monitoring. After tanuki42 agreed to connect, the recruiter browsed briefly before immediately exiting the session and swiftly blocking them.
tanuki42 warned that U.S./EU identity brokers are increasingly becoming a money laundering channel relied upon by North Korea, and such activities may indirectly fund the North Korean regime.
