[The Trump Administration Requests Court to Suspend Ruling on 10% Global Tariff]
On May 11 local time, the Trump administration requested the U.S. court to suspend the enforcement of a prior unfavorable ruling regarding the 10% global tariff, allowing the federal government to proceed with the appeal process. It is reported that the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled against the new tariff measures on May 8 but did not completely halt the tariff collection. The Trump administration formally filed an appeal on May 8. If the court approves the suspension of the ruling, the three importers who previously sued the government over its tariff policy will once again face the 10% global tariff.
It is understood that this 10% global tariff was implemented in February this year. At that time, after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down most of the Trump administration's 2025 tariff measures, the government pivoted to push a new global tariff policy under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. Currently, this global tariff measure is set to expire in July this year unless Congress decides to extend it. (CCTV News)
