Hassett: Powell may choose to resign after the Inspector General's report is released Golden Finance reported on May 11th that White House National Economic Council Director Hassett was asked in an interview how long Powell would continue to serve as a board member after Kevin Walsh took over as Federal Reserve Chairman. Hassett said he believes that after the Federal Reserve Inspector General completes his investigation into the renovation project of the Federal Reserve building, Powell may feel that he can choose to resign.
