Put two things together: 1/CertiK has released a report stating that in the first four months of this year, there were 34 "wrench attacks" targeting cryptocurrency holders worldwide. Approximately $101 million was lost in total, with 82% of the attacks occurring in Europe, with France accounting for the highest proportion of 24 incidents. A wrench attack is when a hacker directly controls you without cracking the password. In February of this year, 12 Malaysian police officers broke into a villa rented by Chinese people under the pretext of "anti fraud investigation" and forced 8 people to transfer about 50000 USDT. The police officer involved has been arrested, but the investigation is progressing slowly. The lawyer believes that there is cover up within the police station. Behind these events, they are often related to identity exposure, asset information leakage, and traceable travel. It's not easy for wealthy people in the cryptocurrency industry. Money is yours, and life must also be yours. Last week, the Binance app launched the "Withdrawal Protection" feature, which I think is worth introducing. This feature adds a delay lock to address the issues mentioned above. Users can activate withdrawal protection in the app by going to the top left corner ->their profile picture ->account security ->withdrawal protection. Within the preset 1-7 day window, all on chain withdrawals will be intercepted, and even if the account is stolen, social worker fraud, or Trojan horse poisoning occurs, attackers cannot immediately transfer the assets. The significance of this feature is to enable it in advance when going to an unsafe/unfamiliar place. In this case, even in extreme situations, the other party cannot complete the transfer within a few minutes. He must control you for a long time and wait for the lock up period to end. The cost and risk are completely different. But it's not omnipotent: if you forget to open it in advance, it's too late to open it again when encountering problems; If controlled for more than 7 days, it will be of no use. So fundamentally, it's better not to publicly disclose your position, not reveal your itinerary, and not make yourself a target. But in terms of product design, withdrawal protection is indeed a useful security patch. Sometimes delaying for 48 hours can result in different outcomes.
