[Trump Says 'Still Considering' Adjusting U.S. Troops in Italy] According to a report by Jinse Finance on May 10, citing news from Italy on May 9, U.S. President Trump stated in a phone interview that he is 'still considering' adjusting U.S. troops stationed in Italy. He remarked, 'When we needed Italy, Italy was not there.' Reportedly, Italian Defense Minister Crosetto responded to these remarks, saying he found them 'incomprehensible.' He pointed out that Italy is currently working with several countries to prepare for mine-clearing and escort missions in the Strait of Hormuz. Data from the U.S. Department of Defense shows that by the end of 2025, approximately 12,700 active-duty U.S. military personnel will be permanently stationed in Italy, making Italy the second-largest host of U.S. troops in Europe, after Germany. Recently, Trump has repeatedly criticized Germany and threatened to reduce U.S. troop presence there. On May 2, Trump stated that the number of troops withdrawn from Germany would be 'significantly more' than 5,000. On May 8, Trump told the media that some U.S. troops might be relocated from Germany to Poland. (CCTV News)
