Lagarde: Euro stablecoin may threaten financial stability

European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde stated that even stablecoins denominated in euros may pose risks to financial stability and monetary policy transmission mechanisms, and questioned their necessity. She pointed out that although these stablecoins can reduce financing costs and enhance the attractiveness of the euro, there are significant trade-offs involved.
