Keonne Rodriguez sentenced for illegal currency transfer and calls for donations

According to Cointelegraph, Keonne Rodriguez, co-founder of Samourai Wallet, has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined $250000 for operating an illegal currency transfer business, and faces a $2 million legal debt. He stated on X platform that he has "gone bankrupt financially" and lawyers and the US Department of Justice are pursuing the payment. Rodriguez and co-founder William Lonergan Hill were charged with conspiracy to launder money and operate an unlicensed currency transmission business in April 2024. They initially pleaded not guilty, but later pleaded guilty in July 2025.
