The founding family and senior management of the Iranian cryptocurrency exchange Nobitex have close relationships, and trading remained active during the war
Odaily Planet Daily News: Nobitex, Iran's largest cryptocurrency exchange, was founded by members of the Kharrazi family who have close ties to Iran's top leadership. The investigation shows that the exchange was founded by brothers Ali and Mohammad Kharrazi, who used the surname "Aghamir" to conceal their association with the Kharrazi family, which has long had close ties to Iran's political core, including historical connections with Ali Khamenei and his successors. The report points out that Nobitex currently serves more than 11 million users, occupies a dominant position in Iran's encryption market, and continues to operate during the conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel, even when the national Internet is interrupted, it still processes transactions. Analysts say that during the war, its transaction volume exceeded $100 million and there was a significant flow of funds overseas. In addition, multiple on chain analysis agencies have pointed out that the platform has processed transactions related to sanctioned entities, with estimated sizes ranging from $22 million to $366 million. Another data shows that wallets related to the Iranian central bank will transfer hundreds of millions of dollars in cryptocurrency assets to Nobitex in 2025, believed to be used to evade financial sanctions. Nobitex denies any connection with the government and claims that illegal transactions only account for a small part of its overall business.
