[CZ Responds to Security Concerns Over Binance's 200,000 BTC '3'-Prefix Address: It's Multi-Sig, Extremely Difficult to Crack]
A certain crypto KOL posted on the X platform questioning the security of a Binance-related '3'-prefix whale address. This address ranks first on the Bitcoin rich list, holding over 200,000 BTC. The KOL expressed concerns about the concentration of large assets in a single address, citing risks of private key collision and cracking.
In response, Binance founder CZ (Changpeng Zhao) directly replied: 'The '3'-prefix should be multi-sig, right? You’d need to crack more than 3 private keys? Trust the math.'
Analysis indicates that Bitcoin '3'-prefix addresses are P2SH multi-signature addresses, requiring multiple private keys to jointly authorize transactions. Common combinations include '2-of-3' and '3-of-5.' While private key collision is theoretically possible, the actual probability of cracking is close to zero, making the security level far higher than single-signature addresses.
