Trump may give Iran some time before resuming military operations
General Mark Kimmitt, the former Assistant Secretary of State of the United States, said that Trump might implement his threat to Iran. If Iran was unwilling to reach an agreement, the United States would resume the use of military force.
"I think Trump will give Iranians some time," Jimmy told Al Jazeera.
Jimmy said that Iran put forward a proposal today, which was rejected by Trump. He thought it was better to wait for several proposals to be put on the table before drawing any conclusions.
The key issue he wants to see from the Iranians is a definite date to start negotiations, "Kimit said.
However, he added that if Iran continued to express its unwillingness to negotiate its nuclear capability, Trump would eventually say "we will go back to war until they are serious".
Nevertheless, the United States acknowledges that Iran still retains approximately 40% to 60% of its drone and missile capabilities, although its air defense systems no longer exist, "Kimmit said.
This makes Iran vulnerable to ongoing airstrikes, so if the US and Iran resume conflict, "I think we will see a second chapter, which will be very similar to the first chapter we saw in March," Kimmit said.
Trump is totally opposed to the proposal of imposing a moratorium on Iran's nuclear development. He said that Iran must promise never to embark on the path of developing nuclear weapons. This is his absolute red line, which he believes forms the foundation of his position.
