[South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission Investigates Upbit and Bithumb's Order Book Sharing Practices] According to SBS Biz, South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission has launched an investigation into Upbit and Bithumb's practices of sharing order books with overseas exchanges, focusing on whether personal information was transferred across borders during the process. The commission has completed written inquiries and on-site inspections and is currently in the stage of determining legality, with the investigation results expected to be finalized in the second half of the year. Order books are lists of buy and sell orders on exchanges, and sharing them with overseas entities can enhance liquidity. However, if user identification information is transmitted in the process, it may violate personal information protection laws (cross-border transfers require user consent). Reportedly, Upbit shares order books with Southeast Asia's Upbit APAC and the Tether market, while Bithumb previously shared order books with Australia's Stellar.
