[French Law Enforcement Prosecutes 88 Individuals in 12 Crypto 'Wrench Attack' Cases, Including 10 Minors]
According to a report by Cointelegraph on April 27, Vanessa Perrée, France's National Prosecutor for Organized Crime, stated that French law enforcement has prosecuted at least 88 individuals in connection with 12 'wrench attack' cases targeting crypto holders, including 10 minors. Among them, 75 individuals have been detained pending trial. These cases typically involve violent methods such as home invasions and kidnappings to coerce victims into surrendering their crypto wallet assets.
Vanessa Perrée noted that some suspects were involved in multiple cases, and investigations revealed the existence of a structured criminal network behind these incidents. Records from French authorities show that there were 18 such cases in 2024, increasing to 67 in 2025, and 47 cases so far in 2026.
