[South Korea's Fake Document Black Market Exposed: 'Graduate from Prestigious Universities' for $200 in Cryptocurrency] According to South Korean media outlet HeraldCorp, a black market for fake documents that accepts cryptocurrency payments has emerged in South Korea. This market offers various counterfeit official documents, including diplomas from prestigious universities. For the equivalent of approximately $200 in cryptocurrency, one can obtain a graduation certificate that closely resembles an authentic diploma from Yonsei University. The individuals involved attract customers through platforms like Telegram, promising to provide materials such as enrollment certificates and diplomas, with delivery possible in as little as a few hours. They prioritize payments in cryptocurrency or digital gift cards to avoid regulatory risks associated with bank transfers. The scope of forgery also extends to driver's licenses, proof of family relationships, criminal record clearances, and loan documents. South Korean police have stated that the number of forgery cases has risen significantly in recent years, with arrests related to such cases nearly doubling between 2021 and 2023. However, a large number of cases remain undetected.
