[Hong Kong Mong Kok Gang Rape Case Dropped: Two Mainland Men Released Without Self-Incrimination Suspicion, One Granted Legal Costs] According to Hong Kong media Sing Tao Headline, there has been a development in a gang rape case in Hong Kong. Two mainland men were accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman at a hotel in Mong Kok in November 2025. The case, originally scheduled for trial, had kept the defendants in custody. Recently, the prosecution applied to withdraw the charges at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court, and the application was approved. One of the defendants was granted legal costs. The magistrate ruled that although the two admitted to having sexual relations with the victim, it did not constitute "self-incrimination suspicion," disagreeing with the prosecution's objections. The prosecution stated that after further investigation and legal consultation, they decided to drop the charges, and the two defendants have been released. Additionally, community sources disclosed that the two individuals are suspected to be BD (Business Development) personnel for ME (formerly the blockchain media platform MetaEra).
