[IEA Warning: Europe's Aviation Fuel Stockpile Only Enough for 6 Weeks, Flight Cancellations Imminent] Odaily Planet Daily reports, according to the Associated Press, International Energy Agency (IEA) Director Fatih Birol stated in an interview on Thursday that Europe's aviation fuel supply "may only last for about 6 weeks," and warned that if oil supplies continue to be disrupted due to the Iran conflict, flight cancellations could occur "very soon." He referred to the Hormuz Strait crisis as "the largest energy crisis in history." Birol said: "There used to be a band called 'Strait of Fear.' Now it has become a real 'Strait of Fear,' which will have a significant impact on the global economy. The longer this situation persists, the greater the negative impact on global economic growth and inflation." Birol noted that this will drive up gasoline, natural gas, and electricity prices, with countries relying on Middle Eastern energy—such as Japan, South Korea, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh—being the first to bear the brunt, followed by ripple effects spreading to Europe and the United States. If the strait remains closed, some flights in Europe may be canceled due to fuel shortages.
