Federal Reserve Messenger: Trump's candidate for Federal Reserve Chair trapped in an unprecedented stalemate According to a report by Golden Finance on April 16th, Nick Timiraos, a journalist from The Wall Street Journal known as the "voice of the Federal Reserve," recently wrote that Kevin Warsh took a crucial step forward on his path to the position of Federal Reserve Chairman this week, but may also have taken two steps back. On the same day that the Senate Banking Committee announced the date of his confirmation hearing as the next Federal Reserve Chair, prosecutors from the office of federal prosecutor Jeanine Pirro attempted to escalate an investigation that could potentially hinder his appointment. Subsequently, in a Fox Business Channel interview aired on Wednesday morning local time, Trump fully defended the investigation into current chairman Jerome Powell. The investigation involves the renovation project of the Federal Reserve headquarters building. This appointment faces obstacles from North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis. Tillis has vowed not to proceed with any Federal Reserve nominee process until the Department of Justice terminates the investigation. In the interview, Trump dismissed Tillis' position as an empty threat from a retiring congressman, while also acknowledging that Tillis may not back down, thus delaying Walsh's confirmation. In this situation, Trump stated that if Powell chooses to stay at the Federal Reserve after his term as chairman ends on May 15th, he will dismiss Powell. Powell is eligible to continue serving as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors until 2028.
