[Bittensor Co-Founder Calls for Restoring Subnet Community Voting Governance, Criticizes Covenant AI Founder for Malicious and Greedy Decisions]
Foresight News reports that Bittensor co-founder Jacob Steeves responded on Discord to the 'Covenant AI exiting the Bittensor network' incident, stating that when dTAO was launched a year ago, the original plan was to introduce a community-owned, voting-based subnet ownership mechanism. This mechanism would allow Subnet Alpha holders to vote via wallets to elect teams responsible for deciding hyperparameters. However, this feature was delayed to grant subnet owners more control during the early stages.
He believes now is the right time to reopen this discussion and suggests introducing a community voting mechanism to elect teams and restart the subnet. He stated that as one of the largest holders, supporters, and technical contributors to the three major projects, he will personally participate in this mechanism and recommend suitable candidates to continue advancing the original goals of the project co-founded with Covenant AI founder Sam Dare. Additionally, he pointed out that Sam Dare's recent decisions were clearly driven by malice and greed. However, he believes moments like these often mark the beginning of a new chapter, redefining the structure and governance of subnets.
