Recently, I took some time to read the new book "Binance Life" by my fellow countryman CZ @ cz-binance. After reading it, I felt that CZ shares himself very authentically and down-to-earth. I have had a lot of personal experiences, from my childhood with mud flooring in rural areas, to immigrating to Canada, to gradually developing technology and dedicating myself to Crypto, and finally turning Binance from a small team into the world's largest exchange.
What touched me the most was CZ's repeated emphasis on "protecting users" and "resilience". He is not the kind of person who only talks about the halo of success. Instead, he writes candidly about the setbacks, regulatory pressures, market crashes, and even the days he spent in prison along the way. Especially in prison, with old-fashioned computers that can only write for 15 minutes at a time and cannot copy or paste, the initial draft typed out word by word can truly feel the spirit of 'no matter how bad the environment is, we have to move forward'. He wrote these not to seek sympathy, but to tell everyone that luck is important in entrepreneurship, especially in the crypto industry, but more importantly, resilience and the original intention of putting user interests first.
The book also shares many details on how Binance recruited people in the early days, how to iterate quickly, and how to make decisions in the face of drastic fluctuations. It can be seen that he has always believed that Crypto can truly expand financial freedom, especially for those who traditional banks cannot reach. This is consistent with my observations of the industry over the years - technology itself is a tool, but what truly drives change are those who are willing to take on long-term responsibilities and do things solidly.
After reading it, my impression of CZ became more three-dimensional. He is not a 'god', he is just a person who steps out from the bottom and proves himself with actions. Having gone through ups and downs, yet still maintaining that low-key and pragmatic attitude, donating all the income from the book to charity, this pattern is truly admirable. Especially now that the industry is still maturing and the regulatory environment is changing, his story has provided many struggling entrepreneurs with real courage and reference.
Yijie @ heyibintance has also been low-key in supporting the development of the industry in recent years, and can always be seen to have a steady sense of responsibility in critical moments. People like CZ and Yijie make me believe that Crypto is not just about price and wealth, but also about freedom, resilience, and long termism. I recommend everyone to read it when they have time. Life is like a play, and Binance Life is even more of a big play. After reading it, I just want to say: Keep up the good work, true value will always be revealed in time.
