I don't think Meme will die
In the past six months, everyone has seen various market trends. Many people say that meme is finished, and the soul of cryptocurrency is gone. Mutual cutting, banker abandonment, conspiracy board, and retail investors have been completely consumed... These have indeed happened
Do you still remember in the 24th year when memes shone brightly, celebrities could pour funds from outside the cryptocurrency circle into it with just one order. Because at that time, many people's impression of cryptocurrency was still limited to 'cryptocurrency is only equal to Bitcoin', and they couldn't even figure out what Ethereum was, let alone the difference between primary and secondary markets
At that time, memes were the best starting point, simple, fun, and full of storytelling, allowing non cryptocurrency users to quickly feel a sense of participation. But over time, the craze turned into fanaticism, and fanaticism turned into mutual cutting. When all retail investors have been washed away and liquidity is like stagnant water, everyone begins to lament that the spirit of encryption is no longer there.
That is a kind of stubbornness after the destruction of trust in humanity. You once believed that communities could unite, that viral transmission could create miracles, and that 'this time is different'... but reality slapped you hard. Many people completely quit because of this, thinking that the entire encrypted world is just a carefully designed scam.
But I won't.
At least until now, I still believe that in all financial worlds, sectors will continue to rotate, and this is an eternal law.
Why do I say meme won't die?
Firstly, the essence of meme has never been 'currency', but culture and attention.
One of the biggest charms of cryptocurrency is turning "stories" into tradable assets. Bitcoin is the story of 'digital gold', Ethereum is the story of 'world computer', and meme is the most primitive and naked human story: funny, absurd, ironic, and belonging. There is no need for a professional white paper, just a meme that can make people laugh knowingly or resonate with them, and it can bring together the "like-minded people" at that time
When the market is sluggish, people may say meme is dead, but when liquidity returns, a new wave of young people or new capital enters, what they need is always something that is "easy to understand, easy to spread, and easy to generate foam". In every bull market in history, the ones leading the charge are often not the most technically advanced projects, but those that can capture emotions the most
Secondly, meme is quietly upgrading with new presentation methods
Previously, it was purely about shouting orders and hype, but now it has begun to incorporate more elements, such as combining AI, physical products, community governance, and even gradually growing some practicality. In the past, it used to be 'pulling stocks today and returning to zero tomorrow', but in the future, it may take the form of 'cultural IP+community economy'. The mode of celebrities shouting orders may not completely disappear, but it will become more refined and integrated with mainstream culture. Think about it, when a Musk level figure or a globally popular internet meme combines with encryption again, will it reignite the market?
Thirdly, human nature never changes
The essence of financial markets is an amplifier of human nature. Greed, fear, conformity, hope... these things will not disappear just because of a bear market. Perhaps it's just a temporary hibernation. When Bitcoin or the market starts to rebound significantly, when everyone has spare money in their pockets, and when there are voices in the community saying 'this time is really different', everything will awaken again
Many people have sentenced Meme to death, but every time, the market always tells us with rotation: no sector will remain silent forever, and no craze will disappear forever. Just changed the stage, changed the narrative, changed the packaging, and then came back!
After giving up, what else do we have left?
Of course, I am not asking everyone to blindly all in meme. On the contrary, I believe we can use meme as a tool, an indicator to observe retail sentiment, a sector where liquidity flows back earliest, and a thermometer to test market risk appetite. These are all very valuable. When you understand the human cycle behind it, you will no longer give up completely due to a sharp drop, nor will you lose your rationality due to a sudden surge.
The encrypted world has never only had the path of getting rich quickly. He also has technological innovation, decentralized finance, and global borderless payments... but it cannot be denied that he will always need Meme as a "lightweight dream entrance" to make more people willing to step in.
So, I don't think meme will die. At this stage, it can be said to be like a virus, temporarily mutating and waiting Waiting for the next season suitable for dissemination. And you? Have you completely given up, or are you like me, although you have experienced pain, still willing to believe that the board will rotate and the story of humanity will continue?
