When I see tweets like this, I feel pretty conflicted. Let me share my personal thoughts.
1. If you're in the crypto industry, whether you're a KOL (Key Opinion Leader) or building a personal brand, the path of chasing traffic has very limited potential. In the crypto space, whether it's the salary Musk offers, ad money from projects, or KOL campaigns, the earnings all have a ceiling.
2. The crypto industry pyramid has three main directions: exchanges, projects, and market makers. It's better to describe it as a trident. KOLs are just at the bottom layer of these three directions. The only way to break free from this is to trade yourself, but trading is also the hardest path. Most people can't make a living off trading.
3. The so-called "IP" might mean different things to different people. Personally, I think it’s about your niche + reputation. The niche is easy to understand—it’s the field where you can grow and have some influence. But more importantly, it’s about your reputation. To me, reputation is about integrity: doing what you should and avoiding what you shouldn’t. That’s it.
4. Personally, I think a lot of people nowadays who want to become "KOLs" are going down the wrong path. The true experts don’t rely on personas or gimmicks. Many of them simply want to share their knowledge, not to earn rewards through sharing. Because once you have a motive, there will be comparisons, cost-effectiveness, and so on. But sharing itself should be pure.
5. Sharing should be a joyful thing. If you can make some money while feeling happy and fulfilled, that’s totally fine. But if you’re racking your brain to create content just to make money, I personally think the road ahead will be limited.
These are just my personal opinions. No offense to anyone.
