[Polymarket Apologizes for Allowing Bets on the Fate of U.S. Pilots Shot Down in Iran] BlockBeats News, April 5, according to NBC reports, prediction market platform Polymarket issued an apology statement for allowing users to bet on the fate of pilots aboard a U.S. fighter jet shot down over Iran. Previously, a U.S. official stated that a twin-seat F-15E "Strike Eagle" fighter jet was shot down on Friday. One crew member has been rescued, but the other remains missing. In a market that was later deleted, users could predict when the pilot would be rescued, with most guessing Saturday. The market's title read: "U.S. confirms pilot will be rescued on...?" U.S. Congressman Seth Moulton—a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq—harshly criticized the market in a post on social platform X, pointing out that while dangerous search-and-rescue operations were underway in Iran, people were betting on the outcome. In response to Seth Moulton's post on X, Polymarket apologized and stated that the market had been taken down. The company wrote: "We have immediately removed this market as it does not meet our integrity standards. This content should not have been published, and we are investigating how it bypassed our internal review mechanisms.
