[Analysis: U.S. 'Mission Contraction' in the Middle East May Lead to Decline in Global Prestige] According to a report by Golden Finance on April 4, Chris Doyle, Director of the Council for Arab-British Understanding (CAABU), stated that Iran's first downing of a U.S. military aircraft during this war holds significant importance for Iran's reputation. 'This demonstrates that it is challenging the military dominance of the world's superpower, the United States, and competing with it at least on both symmetric and asymmetric levels.' He noted that if we look back five or six weeks ago, this war should have ended within a day. 'At that time, Trump told his allies, "I don’t need your help," but now the situation is far from that. He appears passive. The White House seems chaotic, and the Pentagon is firing generals, which indeed gives the impression that the U.S. leadership is not in control of the situation.' Doyle believes: 'When the U.S. engages in wars in the Middle East, people usually worry about "mission creep," where objectives keep expanding. But now it’s "mission contraction": initially, regime change was deemed absolutely necessary, hence the strikes targeting Iran’s leadership. But now figures like Trump are saying, "We are not here for regime change." Meanwhile, Iran seems to have stronger control over its own objectives, able to escalate the situation at will and expand the conflict when necessary.' He concluded: 'If the U.S. cannot manage these issues, its credibility on the global stage will decline.'
