[Iranian Official: Plans to Implement Access and Fee System for Ships Passing Through the Strait of Hormuz]
Golden Finance reported on March 30, citing CCTV, that Aladdin Boroujerdi, a member of the Iranian Islamic Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, stated on March 30 local time that, given the current international security situation and external threats, Iran is seriously considering withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and plans to implement stricter access and fee systems for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Boroujerdi also emphasized that Iran currently has full control over this strategic waterway. He revealed that Iran plans to establish a brand-new management system for the strait, modeled after Turkey's management of the Bosphorus Strait and Egypt's management of the Suez Canal, requiring ships passing through the strait to obtain permission from Iran and pay corresponding transit and service fees.
