[Ministry of Commerce: Will Advance Investigation into U.S. Trade Barriers and Take Corresponding Measures Based on Findings]
Golden Finance reported on March 27 that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce responded to questions regarding the initiation of two trade barrier investigations against the U.S. The spokesperson stated that on March 12 Beijing time, the U.S. Trade Representative's Office launched a Section 301 investigation against China and 15 other economies citing 'overcapacity.' On March 13, it initiated another Section 301 investigation against China and 59 other economies, alleging 'failure to effectively prohibit the import of products made with forced labor.' China is strongly dissatisfied and firmly opposes these actions. Moving forward, the Ministry of Commerce will advance investigations into U.S. trade barriers in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Foreign Trade Law and the Rules on Foreign Trade Barrier Investigations. Measures will be taken based on the findings to resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests. (Ministry of Commerce)
