[UK Government Sanctions Crypto Exchange Xinbi, Cracks Down on Southeast Asia Scam Hub] Foresight News reports that the UK government has imposed new sanctions on a cryptocurrency exchange and individuals linked to large-scale scam operations in Southeast Asia, intensifying efforts to combat online fraud and human rights violations. The sanctions primarily target Xinbi, an illegal Chinese trading platform. The government stated that the platform provides cryptocurrency-based services to scam networks. Authorities claim that Xinbi facilitates the sale of stolen personal data and enables services targeting victims, including communication tools like satellite internet equipment. The sanctions also target Legend Innovation Co., which operates '8 Park' in Cambodia—a large-scale scam hub believed to detain up to 20,000 trafficked laborers. The sanctions extend to the company's director, Eang Soklim, as well as individuals associated with the financial network of Prince Group. Prince Group was previously sanctioned by the UK and the US last year. Those prior sanctions resulted in the freezing and confiscation of over £1 billion ($1.3 billion) in assets and triggered a series of investigations and arrests across the region.
