Pakistan accelerates mediation of US Iran conflict: Military senior talks with Trump, Islamabad may become a potential negotiation hub
According to BlockBeats, on March 24th, as the situation in the Middle East continues to escalate, Pakistan is actively promoting diplomatic mediation and attempting to build a communication bridge between the United States and Iran. Insiders revealed that Asim Munir, the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, has discussed potential solutions to ease the conflict with Trump.
According to reports, Pakistan is attempting to develop its capital Islamabad as a negotiating site, with US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff playing a key role in the mediation process. According to multiple reports, potential participants in the talks may also include high-level figures such as Jared Kushner and the Vice President of the United States.
Previously, Trump stated that he has postponed the strike on Iran's energy infrastructure after engaging in a "productive dialogue" with Iran. However, Iranian officials still deny the existence of direct negotiations, only stating that they are evaluating the information conveyed through intermediaries.
Pakistan has simultaneously launched multi line diplomacy. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has spoken with the Iranian President to express support and call for a cooling of the situation; Senior military officials have also been in close contact with Saudi Arabia to strengthen regional coordination.
Analysis suggests that Pakistan's active involvement in this round is based on its long-term relationship network with Iran and Saudi Arabia, as well as its own energy security considerations. With the disruption of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, about one-fifth of global oil and gas transportation has been impacted, and Pakistan's energy imports are highly dependent on the Gulf region, facing pressure from natural gas shortages.
