[U.S. Treasury Cuts 6-Week Treasury Bill Issuance Size for the First Time Since November]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on March 13, the U.S. Treasury on Thursday reduced the auction size of its shortest-term Treasury bills, marking the first cut in issuance of this maturity since November. This signals the U.S. government’s move to reduce issuance ahead of the April tax filing deadline. The U.S. Treasury stated that it plans to issue $85 billion in 6-week Treasury bills on Tuesday, a $5 billion reduction from the previous issuance of the same maturity. At the same time, it will issue $50 billion in 52-week Treasury bills on Tuesday, with the size remaining unchanged. The U.S. Treasury also announced that it will issue $88 billion in 3-month Treasury bills on Monday, with the size unchanged, and $79 billion in 6-month Treasury bills on Monday, also with no change in size. Earlier this week, the U.S. Treasury had already announced reductions in the issuance of 4-week and 8-week Treasury bills.
