The recent lobster hype has been giving me a sense of dissonance and fragmentation. It feels like something is missing, and my desire to post tweets has even dropped significantly. This morning, I finally figured it out. The source of this feeling is watching the entire internet start to FOMO, dive in, and get hyped, but very few people are actually turning their knowledge into real money. After so many years in the crypto space, I've grown accustomed to the quick conversion of 'knowledge -> profit.' Learning a new concept or skill often leads to immediate financial gains. Take DeFi, for example. By understanding the logic and mechanics ahead of others, I managed to snag YFI for free, which was worth dozens of $BTC, along with tens of thousands of $CAKE and countless other mining rewards. Or Meme coins—by grasping the Agents, Ai16z, and stockings trend ahead of others, my friends and I made a lot of money during that wave. I won’t even mention $BTC. Off the top of my head, there’s also inscriptions, GameFi, and other opportunities that gave ordinary people a chance to change their lives dramatically. Based on past experiences, with such a big lobster hype, I should’ve seen friends around me making millions by now. But after asking around, very few have actually made money. Despite all the buzz, many people have been hyped for days, burned through a ton of tokens, and aside from selling courses, they still haven’t found a reliable, scalable way to monetize (though I did notice the ground-pushing crowd jumping on the concept early to make money). The threshold for ordinary people to make money in the AI space is much higher than in crypto, and the opportunities are far fewer—at least that’s how it feels for now.
