**[U.S. Federal Judge Dismisses Terrorism-Related Lawsuit Against Binance and CZ, Citing Lack of Evidence]** According to Reuters, U.S. Manhattan federal judge Jeannette Vargas has dismissed a civil lawsuit that sought to hold Binance and its founder CZ accountable, alleging their trading activities facilitated global attacks by terrorist organizations. The judge stated that the 535 plaintiffs (including victims and their families) failed to reasonably demonstrate that the defendants “intentionally colluded with, participated in, or ensured the success of terrorist attacks through their actions.” The plaintiffs alleged that the attacks occurred between 2017 and 2024 and were carried out by external terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, ISIS, Kata’ib Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Al-Qaeda. They attempted to attribute responsibility to Binance and CZ for hundreds of millions of dollars in cryptocurrency transactions and dealings with Iranian users. The judge noted that while Binance and CZ may have been aware of the potential role of the exchange in facilitating terrorist financing, their connection to terrorist organizations was limited to “accounts held by them or their affiliates on Binance, conducting transactions in a fair and lawful manner.” The judge also criticized the plaintiffs’ 891-page, 3,189-paragraph complaint as “entirely unnecessary” but allowed them to amend it. A Binance spokesperson stated, “The court rightly dismissed these baseless allegations. Binance strictly adheres to compliance requirements and has zero tolerance for illegal activities on its platform.” CZ also commented that the plaintiffs were attempting to leverage Binance’s November 2023 admission of violating anti-money laundering and sanctions laws, along with its $4.32 billion penalty payment, to seek triple damages.
