[US Embassy in Saudi Arabia Hit by Drone, Trump Says Retaliation to Be Announced 'Soon,' No Need for Ground Troops]
BlockBeats News, March 3: U.S. President Donald Trump stated that retaliation measures for the drone attack on the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the casualties of U.S. military personnel in Iran-related conflicts will be announced 'soon.' He also mentioned that there is no need to deploy ground troops to Iran.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense reported on social media that preliminary assessments indicate two drones struck the U.S. Embassy facilities in Riyadh, causing a small-scale fire and some material damage. Multiple informed sources stated that the incident occurred early Tuesday morning, and no staff were present in the embassy at the time. No casualties have been reported. Black smoke briefly rose over the diplomatic district in Riyadh. The embassy subsequently issued a 'shelter-in-place' notice to U.S. citizens in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran.
At a press conference, Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. faces an 'imminent threat,' noting that the U.S. is aware of Israel's plans to take action against Iran and anticipates that Iran may retaliate by attacking U.S. military targets. Mike Johnson, after receiving a classified briefing, said that the U.S. is advancing a 'limited in scope and targeted, but absolutely necessary for defense' operation, which is expected to conclude soon.
Additionally, U.S. and Israeli airstrikes against Iran continue to escalate. Israel has targeted Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, while Iran has continued launching missile and drone attacks on Gulf countries hosting U.S. military forces.
