I have a plan to strategically place four (4) 300MW SMRs across MA that will power 40% of the 2.9 million MA homes - at 97% efficiency - with net zero carbon emissions. That, coupled with expanding natural gas would greatly reduce energy costs across MA. Our elected officials, however, won’t consider it. It is absolute madness. I’m not saying this to be mean - but I honestly believe @EdMarkey has been in office so long that when he hears Nuclear ☢️ he thinks of the 3 Mile Island leak in PA (which was contained) in 1979. Markey’s first year in Washington was 3 years earlier in 1976. When Markey hears the word nuclear he likely thinks of the Chernobyl explosion in Ukraine in 1986 - a decade after Markey first went to Washington. That’s one of the problems with career politicians who’ve been in office for FIVE DECADES - they become incapable of truly accepting technological advances and progress, including involving nuclear power, because they’re too tied to the past. #mapoli #MASen #Deaton(John E Deaton)
