According to reports, US Treasury Secretary Benson predicted that inflation may rebound to around the Federal Reserve's 2% target by the middle of this year, possibly referring to the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index. Due to the government shutdown, the latest data shows a core PCE inflation rate of 2.8% in November last year. The core PCE price index for December will be released on February 20th, and it is predicted that the core inflation rate will still be 2.8%. The January data still needs time to be released, and historical data shows that the average increase in CPI is usually about 0.5 percentage points higher than PCE.
