Trump's tariffs may add an average of $1300 to the burden on American households by 2026

According to a report by Fortune, non partisan think tank Tax Foundation analysis shows that Trump's tariff policies are expected to cause an average hidden tax increase of $1300 on American households in 2026 and $1000 in 2025. Despite the tax reduction policy bringing in tax refunds, the average American still loses about $300. Tariffs are expected to increase net fiscal revenue by $1.9 trillion between 2025 and 2034, but tax reductions will decrease by $4.1 trillion, resulting in a negative overall impact.
