On February 10th, Ladislaus-eth, a member of the Ethereum Foundation, stated that Ethereum is shifting from repeatedly executing all transactions within a block to verifying the correctness of execution through zkEVM proofs. This scheme is supported by EIP-8025 and allows validators to choose to verify multi client zk proofs at the consensus layer instead of running the full execution layer, without the need for forced upgrades or forks. This mechanism may reduce the hardware and synchronization costs of nodes, benefit independent validators and home nodes, and lay the foundation for future L1 expansion, ePBS, and native Rollup. The Ethereum L1 zkEVM roadmap is set for 2026, and the first special meeting will be held on February 11th.
