Scam Sniffer reports that address poisoning attacks have caused significant losses recently. In January, one victim lost $12.2 million, while similar attacks in December resulted in $50 million in losses. Signature phishing attacks in January stole $6.27 million, affecting 4,741 people, a 207% month-on-month increase; two wallets accounted for 65% of the losses. Web3 Antivirus points out that address poisoning is a common method for large-scale losses, and the trend shows no signs of slowing down. Analysis suggests that the Ethereum Fusaka upgrade, which reduces transaction costs, has fueled dust attacks; stablecoin dust transactions account for 11% of Ethereum transactions and 26% of active addresses. Coin Metrics data shows that from November 2025 to January 2026, stablecoin balance updates exceeded 227 million times, with 38% of them being less than 1 cent, suspected to be dust poisoning.
