[Two Victims Lose Over $62 Million Due to Address Poisoning Attacks]
Odaily Planet Daily reports, according to monitoring by Scam Sniffer, a single victim in January lost $12.2 million by copying an incorrect address from transaction history. Combined with a similar attack in December involving $5 million, the total losses for two victims have exceeded $62 million. Address poisoning attacks involve attackers sending small amounts of tokens from visually similar addresses to trick users into copying the wrong address. Additionally, phishing attacks involving signatures in January resulted in $6.27 million in stolen funds, a month-on-month increase of 207%. Analysts believe that the Ethereum Fusaka upgrade, which reduced transaction costs, has led to an increase in the frequency of such attacks. Coin Metrics data shows that dust transactions related to stablecoins currently account for approximately 11% of Ethereum's daily transaction volume. Whitestream stated that DAI has become the preferred choice for illegal operators to store funds due to its protocol governance not cooperating with authorities to freeze addresses. (Cointelegraph)
