Is Arbitrum changing its stance? Post states' Arbitrarum is not Ethereum 'in response to Vitalik roadmap controversy
BlockBeats News: On February 4th, Steven Goldfed, the co creator of Off Chain Labs, the development team behind Arbitrarum, posted on social media stating:
Arbitrum is not Ethereum. Arbitrum and Ethereum are close allies and have maintained a symbiotic relationship over the past five years. But it's not Ethereum. The view that there is a contradiction between the expanded L1 and the thriving L2 ecosystem is incorrect. I have never heard of any L2 team opposing L1 expansion. In fact, Offchain Labs not only supports L1 scaling, but also directly contributes to it by acquiring and continuing to fund Prysm to ensure it has sufficient funds and resources to continue Ethereum development.
Vitalik's' Rollup's Story Evolves Over Time 'is correct. But the best path for Ethereum to win over large institutions is still L2. In fact, Ethereum has L2, which is a superpower that allows it to win over institutions that other L1 cannot provide corresponding solutions for.
During the volatile market last Saturday, both Arbitrarum and Base had peak processing capabilities exceeding 1000 TPS, while Ethereum had 40 TPS. Ethereum L1 cannot directly support such transaction volume, and this is the full purpose of L2's existence. L1 will not scale to the point where L2 is no longer needed.
It is worth noting that Steven once posted on January 3, 2025, stating that "Arbitrarum is actually Ethereum" (Arbitrarum is actually Ethereum), and the tweet has not been deleted yet.
BlockBeats previously reported that Ethereum founder Vitalik tweeted yesterday that with the expansion of L1 and slow development of L2, the original vision of Layer 2 and its role in Ethereum are no longer reasonable and require new development paths and positioning.
