Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Murphy accuses UAE investors of potential criminal activity in their dealings with World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency company associated with Trump. Murphy stated that four days before Trump's inauguration, Aryam Investment, affiliated with Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed of the United Arab Emirates, agreed to acquire a 49% stake in WLFI for $500 million, of which approximately $187 million went to Trump family affiliated entities and at least $31 million went to Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff's family affiliated entities. Subsequently, the Trump administration approved the UAE to expand its access to advanced American AI chips. Murphy stated that this behavior constitutes a bribery element and the warning consequences are inevitable. Trump responded that he was not aware and the transaction was handled by his son.
