The controversy surrounding Trump's immigration raid has sparked political turmoil in the US House of Representatives, and some government shutdowns may be extended until this week. Speaker of the House Johnson is pushing for a bill that has been passed by the Senate to be voted on in the House. The bill aims to provide funding for most federal agencies until September 30th and for the Department of Homeland Security until February 13th, in order to maintain funding for immigration raids during negotiations between the two parties on law enforcement policy adjustments. However, the bill faced opposition within both parties. The rules committee is expected to hold a preliminary vote on Monday, and Johnson hopes that the final vote can be completed on Tuesday. If the shutdown continues, Friday's non farm payroll report may be postponed, and the tax season that started last week may also be affected. Progressive Democrats have stated that they will not support any funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security unless Trump agrees to impose new restrictions on immigration raids.
