[Ignoring Trump's Tariff Threat, Korean Stocks Close Above 5,000 Points for the First Time, Setting a New Record] Jin10 Data, January 27 — Despite Trump's threat to impose tariffs on South Korean imports, driven by the recent surge in tech stocks, South Korea's KOSPI index closed at a historic high on Tuesday, ending at 5,084.85 points, up 135.26 points or 2.73%. The Korean won, however, weakened against the US dollar. Since the beginning of this year, the KOSPI index has seen significant gains and has been trading above the 5,000-point threshold since last Thursday. This marks the first time it has closed above this symbolic level.
